The principle

Robinhood's ads don't explain investing. They show someone casually opening the app and buying a stock in three taps. No jargon, no charts, no financial literacy lesson. The implicit message: 'investing is already this easy, you just didn't know.' This works because the biggest barrier to investing isn't knowledge, it's intimidation. People think they need to understand P/E ratios and market caps before they can start. Robinhood's ads demolish that barrier by showing the act itself, unadorned, taking less time than ordering coffee.

Video 0:15The Demystifier
Someone in a casual setting, couch, coffee shop, opening the app on their phone
The setting normalizes investing. It's not a Bloomberg terminal in a Wall Street office. It's a person on their couch. This says 'investing is something normal people do in normal places.'
The framework
Hook
Someone in a casual setting, couch, coffee shop, opening the app on their phone. The setting normalizes investing. It's not a Bloomberg terminal in a Wall Street office. It's a person on their couch. This says 'investing is something normal people do in normal places.'
Body
Three taps: search a company name, set an amount, tap 'buy.' Total time: 5 seconds on screen.. The speed is the body. No tutorial, no explanation. The viewer watches someone invest faster than they can order an Uber. The simplicity is the proof, if it took 20 steps, it wouldn't look easy.
Trust
'Commission-free' callout, FINRA/SIPC membership, millions of users count. Finance needs regulatory trust signals. 'Commission-free' removes the hidden-cost anxiety. Regulatory badges provide the safety net. User count provides social proof that this is mainstream, not risky.
CTA
'Start investing' or 'Get your free stock'. The free stock CTA reduces first-action friction to zero. You're not risking money, you're receiving a free stock. The first experience is gain, not risk.
How to adapt it

The demystifier works for any product in a category perceived as complex, tax software, legal services, home buying, insurance, coding tools. The ad format: show someone doing the thing easily, without explaining how. The absence of explanation IS the message. If you need a tutorial, the product is too complex. If you can show the action in 5 seconds, the viewer's objection ('I can't do this') dissolves on contact.
