Quick Fix
Performance
My new ad account has a very high CPM. Is that normal?
A fresh account with no conversion history usually sees high CPMs at first, because Meta has no signal about who should see your ads and prices the uncertainty in. It settles as the pixel gathers conversions. High CPM on its own is not the problem; a high cost per result is.
What this means
A fresh account with no conversion history usually sees high CPMs at first, because Meta has no signal about who should see your ads and prices the uncertainty in.
Quick steps
- Confirm it is a new-account effect: little or no pixel history, few conversions, and a CPM far above your niche norm in the first days.
- Judge cost per result, not CPM: a high CPM that still converts is fine. Watch cost per purchase or lead against your break-even, not the CPM number.
- Feed the account signal: run enough budget to gather conversions, keep targeting broad, and avoid restarting the learning phase with frequent edits.
